Q: I forgot my password. What can I do now?

A: If you remember your old Login-name then enter this name and press 'login'. The system will detect that you left the password free and prompts for that and gives you additional the chance to create a new password.
If you do not remember the old Login-name then please register a new account. Please note that no admin is capable of retrieving your old password. These are coded and can not be read even by admins. Another security measure of GateCentral.

Q: What does favorite language mean?

A: Our frontend has the possibility to come up in several languages. Not all languages are implemented yet. If you pre-choose a language in the registration you will be getting this language as first choice whenever the system has a chance to. You will see that most of all in the navbars of GateCentral.

Q: Is it possible to change my favorite language afterwards?

A: Whenever you enter a gate of GateCentral there is a 'profile-button'. When you press the button you will be able to change your settings for GateCentral and additionally the favorite language.

Q: Why do I have to wait for my password instead of prompting it to the screen after the registration?

A: It is another security measure of GateCentral. With this do we check that the person who did the registration is also the person which receives the eMail.

Q: I enter my login and password but how do I see that the system recognizes me?

A: At first you will get a small window which tells you that you are now logged in. And every gate you enter at GateCentral will prompt your name into the 'my-GateCentral-box' in the upper right corner.

Q: I enter my login and password but the system calls me Visitor. Why?

A: In most cases you have not turned on your cookies. Therefor the system does not recognize you. Please consider turning on your cookies.
We are aware that some criminal elements in the Internet try to use cookies to track your surfing-habits and respect that some users disabled cookies. Nevertheless it is our only chance to give you the possibility of an user-profile and all positive aspects of it (forum-title, avatars, favorite language, .. etc.). If you decide to turn off cookies please consider that some browsers offer the possibility of limiting the cookies to the site they came from. This will protect you and gives us the chance to offer you an optimum of our site. Please refer in that case to the manual of your browser.

Q: I have done my registration but I do not get my password via eMail?

A: There can be many causes. One is that you miss-typed your eMail-adress. If that is possible please wait half an hour and try the registration again. Another possibility is that the eMail-traffic between GateCentral and your provider is limited or broken down. This could happen in todays Internet and is no cause to worry. Be patient - the eMail will reach you sooner or later.
In every case: please be patient and wait some more minutes. Check your eMail-Inbox frequently. Do not repeat the registration-process over and over again. If after two tries your password does not reach you - please contact our support. zonta@gatecentral.com

Q: Why is the length of the login at least five chars?

A: To evade problems with too many user wanting the same login we decided to use at least five chars. However we suggest an usage of at least eight chars to secure your login.

Q: For what puposes do you use my eMail-adress?

A: The most important purpose is that we send your password of GATECENTRAL to this adress. And it could happen that we inform you about important changes at our webpage. But we do not sale your adress or give it away to spammers or other dubios organisations. That is for sure. For more informations please read our Privacy-Statement.

Q: How can I support your site with informations?

A: All informations are mostly welcome. We have several levels of contribution.
1. Every news-site (UO, AO, DAoC, ..) has in the navbar a 'submit news'-link. Whenever you press that link you will get to an input-terminal where we ask you to enter your news and data. After submitting these news the data will be sent to our admins who will see to it. This feature can be used by everyone - even Visitors.
2. Our system supports up to seven different languages. If you think of translation-data then please use the L-button right of every news in the index. It will lead you to an input-terminal for translations. The rest is the same procedure like in point 1.
3. If it happens that you send us informations over a longer period of time we may decide to invite you into our news-staff. This will lead to greater power and responsibilities at GateCentral. If you have questions about becoming an admin please contact raknar@gatecentral.com
4. If you have pure content for us (no news) then please send them directly to addon@gatecentral.com. The responsible webmaster will contact you shortly afterwards. Or use the 'send us eMail'-link in the upper half of the navbar of every GateCentral-portal.

Q: How can I create an avatar for my board-appearance?

A: We suggest basically that you use the preconstructed avatars. You can search through the list by entering the profile-setup and choose one from the list. If you absolutely dislike all avatars then we allow that you send us a picture with the format 50x75 pixels. (admin@gatecentral.com) We add it to the list asap and you can choose your picture for the GC-board.
